In 2009 and 2010, an extensive exterior renovation of the Allen County Courthouse was undertaken. It is no secret that this magnificent, historic building is one-of-a-kind and gorgeous to almost any eye.
But from the street, it easy to miss the incredible detail that went into the stone carvings that adorn the exterior of the Courthouse. The building is ringed by dozens of lifelike carvings of men and women – and even a couple of ornate eagles. I got the chance to document the restoration up close throughout the project. The faces of the Courthouse were the highlight of what I saw.
Since they are often too high to see, or simply lost in the hustle and bustle of walking by the Courthouse, I thought they were worth sharing here.
