The weather in northern Indiana is…well…unpredictable in the middle of January. So I didn’t think much about the January 2019 lunar eclipse until it was just about to start! Here’s my take on it, shot freehand in a miraculously clear winter sky. Crazy low temperatures (approaching zero or below) made the sky even more crystal clear.
I consistently shot at F-stop 5.6, ISO 100 and a shutter speed of 125 or a little higher with a Canon 80-D. Right up until totality. Then I pretty much started making it up on the fly to get the full disk. I was freehanding this, so I was maxing out ISO and F-stop in exchange for a shutter speed I could still freehand with.
For your consideration…here’s the final result!
